Exhibition tour

Curator Taru Elfving’s tour at Liina Siib’s solo exhibition “Politics of Paradise will take place on 16 February at 2pm.

Haunting is a social phenomenon rather than a question of individual psychosis or collective superstition. What haunts is that which remains silenced or unseen in the past as well as in the present. While resisting attempts to exorcise the ghosts, or to capitalise on them, Liina Siib’s work challenges us to reckon with them.

The tour focuses on the minor narratives that Liina Siib pays acute attention to and reflects on how the works shed light on shifting societal values manifested not only in ghost stories but also scientific signs, esoteric beliefs, legal systems, and economic migration. Hauntings allow us here insight into the ongoing construction of both assumed truths and ideas of paradise.

The tour will be held in English, entrance with a valid exhibition ticket.
